Private SEZ
SEZ owned by Private Companies
In terms of investment under the SEZ Act of 2006, private companies are allowed to build or own Special Economic Zones, meaning building basic infrastructure including roads, electricity, water and fencing, and then invite other companies to come and rent or buy industrial plots to operating factories using EPZ and SEZ licenses. These investors will be given all the incentives as investors who are within Government SEZs.
So far through this system, Tanzania has received some of the investors who have built Special Economic Zones as follows:

- Global SEZ - Mkuranga
- Star City SEZ - Morogoro
- Hifadhi SEZ - Dar es Salaam
- Kisongo SEZ - Arusha
- Kilwa SEZ - Costal Region
- Mkinga SEZ - Tanga
- Vigora SEZ Kisarawe Pwani
- Magnis Technologies (T) Ltd (Nachu SEZ)
- Mingxin Company Ltd - Pwani
- Heritage Empire SEZ (Kaboja Industrial City)
